ABOUT SLIP ON FLANGES

Slip On flanges, as the name suggests, is a type of steel flange which slides over the end of the pipe and then welded in pipes. Since the pipe slips into the flange before welding, pipe has a low hub.The inside diameter and outside diameter of the flange are both welded, resulting in sufficient strength and no leak. Slip on flanges can be easily fitted into different pipes. Slip On flanges are most suited for lower pressure applications. These attachments are connected to the pipe via fillet weld at the top and bottom of the flange. Slip On flanges are provided with a raised or flat face. When raised face is necessary for Slip On flanges, the standard height is 1/6th for Slip On flanges. Slip On flanges or SO flanges are usually lower in price than other flanges a=such as Slip On flanges or weld neck flanges. This makes it a popular choice for many customers. However, customers should bear in mind that this initial cost savings may be reduced by the additional cost of two more fillet welds required for proper installation. Also, based on higher life expectancy, weld neck flanges and socket weld flanges have a higher life expectancy than Slip On flanges under duress.

ADVANTAGES OF SLIP ON FLANGES

  • Low cost installation
  • Less time spent on ensuring the accuracy of the cut pipe
  • Easier to align
  • Low hub because pipe slips into the flange before welding
  • Flange is welded from both the inside and the inside to provide sufficient strength
  • Prevents leakage

KEY FEATURES

  • One size fits all pipes
  • Fabricators can more easily cut the pipe to length for slip-on flanges.
  • The smaller thickness of this flange allows for easier alignment of bolting holes.
  • They are generally not preferred for high-pressure temperature environments.

MATERIAL USED IN MANUFACTURING SLIP ON FLANGES

  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Silicone
  • Cast Iron
  • Titanium
  • Bronze
  • Brass
  • Nickel alloy
  • PVC etc.
  • Polypropylene
  • Nickel alloy
  • Carbon steel

MANUFACTURING OF SLIP ON FLANGES

The manufacturing process includes six major steps namely:

  • Cutting
  • Open and Closed Die Forging
  • Heat Treatment
  • Conventional and CNC Machining
  • Inspection and Quality Check
  • Packing and Dispatch

Steam hammer technology is used for our manufacture of forging products. It is based on open die forgings and drop hammer closed die forgings. Visual and dimensional checking of raw material is done when, after the steel is received from the manufacturer. The stocks of SS and CS material are kept separately for fast access and simple distinction. The colour coding scheme to every unit of raw material is applied as per the color code. The color coding scheme assists to foot-mark the material during the manufacturing process. The criterion test certificate which is received from suppliers for raw material is studied. Then, physical and chemical testing of each material is done. The various types of raw material are given lot no. and details such as source of supply heat number, supplier’s certificate number, or a lot number of the company are decided. Internal Granule Corrosion testing and ultrasonic testing is done. Cutting and marking the materials are stamped with lot number for identity proof. The manufacturing division raises appropriation test for material the company wants to use in their process. The material is issued symbolizing the lot number. The required material’s length and weight are verified. The raw materials, which are in the shape of long rods of different diameters, are chopped with the use of huge saw cutting machines. A QC and inspection test is done to overview the flanges. Lastly, the flanges are assorted and packed for dispatch.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

At Instinox, all fittings and flanges are subject to strict inspection and quality checks at all stages of the manufacturing process, from starting material purchasing to product shipment. They are optically inspected for conformity to ASTM, ASME, MSS, DIN, EN, and JIS codes and standards. At Our requests, officially certified agencies are called to witness the material reports, dimension and quality conformity of products. Test Certificates are given to the manufacturer after a third party inspection under the standards: EN 10204/3.1B, Raw materials Certificate, 100% Radiology Test report Test Certificate.

MARKING & PACKING

All products are given brand marking and heat number traceability and marked with Grade, lot no. , size, degree, and our firm’s trade mark for identification purpose. Products are also packaged to ensure that there is no damage during transit. Standard export packaging is done in wooden cases in case of exports. We also make customized orders as per our client’s requests.

PRODUCTION OF SLIP ON FLANGES

We have world class machinery for Slip On flanges manufacturers. We have CNC, Lathe Machines as well as punch dyes required for manufacturing of Slip On flanges. The forgings are outsourced. We have in house testing facilities like Spectro machine, PMI Machine, Mechanical test, Hardness Test, Ultrasonic Testing, Hydrostatic Testing, Pressure testing, and manual inspection of gauge. Our product range also includes pipe fittings and fasteners which are considered piping accessories for a pipeline set up.The production Raw material is subject to heat treatment for optimum use of dye for processes ahead. Then the flanges are made as per dimensions specified in the ANSI Standards with a hub or without the addition of the hub. Then the Slip On flanges are machined and finished followed by the marking process of Slip On flanges.

QUALITY CONTROL OF SLIP ON FLANGES

As Slip On flanges manufacturers, Instinox is backed by all world class certifications including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 & CE-PED 97/23/EC. We are also members of various renowned agencies and Chambers of Commerce including MASSMA, EEPC, FICCI, FIEO, Indian Merchants Chamber etc. We provide a 1-year product replacement warranty for all pipe fittings exported from our company. We guarantee the quality because 100% pipe fittings manufactured are checked in-house for defects in quality and workmanship. Our quality program is a 3 layered independent department check for various factors, including Dimensional Check, Visual Inspection, and Finishing, Burr level, Leakage Test, Pressure Rating test, Chemical inspection and Mechanical properties verification. We are running at full capacity and sometimes outsource our job due to increased work load.

SLIP ON FLANGES : BRAND

Slip On Flanges suppliers are marked with the standard format of i-FIT-Size-Material-Heat Number. This heat number is 100% traceable to our records and we maintain very strict watch to ensure the authenticity of our brand isn’t duplicated by other brands.

PACKING AND DOCUMENTATION OF SLIP ON FLANGES

Instinox Slip On flanges suppliers are packed in special and branded carton boxes and crate boxes depending on the mode of transport. Slip On flanges are wrapped with special thin plastic and beveled ends are protected with plastic caps. They are then packed in the carton or wooden boxes. Socket weld ends are also protected by the caps for protection to the ends and the threads where applicable. It is important that the damages in transit are avoided and pipe fittings reach customers in the same form as it is manufactured. Thus we place lots of emphasis on packing and packaging of the goods. Slip On flanges carry various export documents such as the commercial invoice, packing list, Test Reports, HS Code, Country of Origin attested by the chamber of commerce, Fumigation Certificate, Warranty Letter, and Base Material Certificates. Each heat and lot of tube fittings are supplied with a material test certificate as per EN 10204 NACE 3.1 standards indicating the chemical and mechanical properties of the pipe fittings along with pressure rating. We also confirm the guarantee of the fittings supplied as per Purchase order specifications and attest the same in the Material Test Certificate. We also welcome any third party inspection from an agency nominated by the customer to comply with NACE 3.2 Certification if required by the customer at an extra cost. Free samples in Stainless steel and carbon steel can be provided upon request to gauge quality and finishing of our flanges against confirmed receipt of purchase order. We can also send photos upon request.
