ABOUT WELD NECK FLANGES

A weld neck flange is a type of steel flange to transfer stresses to pipe to reducing high stress concentrations at the base of the flange. Weld neck flanges, when compared to other flanges are known for their tapered hub and gentle conversion from pipe wall thickness to flange thickness. Weld neck flanges are deformation resistant, and are normally used for high pressure or low temperature conditions. Weld neck flanges are used for two major industrial processes which are die forging and machining.

Weld neck flanges are connected to a pipe by welding the pipe to the neck of the pipe flange, which helps to pass on the flow from neck weld flanges to pipe itself. This also reduces high flow concentration near the base of the hub of the welded neck pipe flanges. Weld neck flanges are used in high reassure applications, where hot or cold temperature exists.

The inside diameter of a weld pipe flanges is machined to match the inside diameter of the pipe.

MANUFACTURING OF WELD NECK FLANGES

The manufacturing process includes six major steps namely:

  • Cutting
  • Open and Closed Die Forging
  • Heat Treatment
  • Conventional and CNC Machining
  • Inspection and Quality Check
  • Packing and Dispatch

Steam hammer technology is used for our manufacture of forging products. It is based on open die forgings and drop hammer closed die forgings. Visual and dimensional checking of raw material is done when after steel is received from the manufacturer. The stocks of SS and CS material are kept separately for fast access and simple distinction. The colour coding scheme to every unit of raw material is applied as per the colour code. The colour coding scheme assists to footmark the material during the manufacturing process. The criterion test certificate which is received from suppliers for raw material is studied. Then, physical and chemical testing of each material is done. The various types of raw material are given lot no. and information such as source of heat number, supplier certificate number, or a lot number of the company are decided. Internal Granule Corrosion testing and ultrasonic testing is done. Cutting and marking the materials are stamped with lot number for identity proof. The manufacturing division raises appropriation test for material the company want to use in their process. The material is issued symbolising the lot number. The required materials length and weight are checked. The raw materials, in the shape of long rods of different diameters, are chopped with the use of huge saw cutting machines. A QC and inspection test is done to overview the flanges. Lastly, the flanges are assorted and packed for dispatch.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS

  • Turnkey projects
  • Pharmaceutical projects
  • Paper mills
  • Waste water treatment plants
  • Oil refineries
  • Petrochemical plants
  • Power generation
  • Shipbuilding industries
  • Machining companies

FEATURES OF WELDING NECK FLANGES

  • Welded Neck flanges are supplied with NTO fittings which allow strength check joints to be fitted.
  • They are used to seal off the ends of valves, pressure vessel openings and ends of pipes.
  • Taking into consideration, factors like bolt loading and internal pressure, WN flanges, especially in the larger sizes, are the most highly stresses of all types of flanges.
  • They are made to fit standard pipes in all sizes.

MARKING & PACKING

All products are given brand marking and heat number traceability and marked with Grade, lot no. , size, degree, and our firm’s trademark for identification purpose. Products are also packaged to ensure that there is no damage during transit. Standard export packaging is done in wooden cases in case of exports. We also make customized orders as per our client’s requests.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

At Instinox, all fittings and flanges are subject to strict inspection and quality checks at all stages of the manufacturing process, from starting material purchasing to product shipment. They are optically inspected for conformity to ASTM, ASME, MSS, DIN, EN, and JIS codes and standards. At Our requests, official certified agencies are called to witness the material reports, dimension and quality conformity of products.
Test Certificates are given to the manufacturer after third party inspection under the standards: EN 10204/3.1B, Raw materials Certificate, 100% Radiology Test report Test Certificate.
