Hastelloy C22, also known as alloy C22, is a versatile austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The high chromium content provides good resistance to oxidizing media while the molybdenum and tungsten content give good resistance to reducing media. This nickel steel alloy also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions.
A Hastelloy c22 concentric reducers is used to join pipe sections or tube sections on the same axis.The concentric reducer is cone-shaped, and is used when there is a shift in diameter between pipes. For example, when a 1″ pipe transitions into a 3/4″ pipe and the top or bottom of the pipe doesn’t need to remain level. This pipe reducer may be used when there is a single diameter change or multiple diameter changes. Unlike eccentric reducers, concentric reducers have a common center line. Concentric reducers are useful when cavitation is present. Eccentricity occurs when the centerline is offset.

Fittings are supplied with grooved or shouldered ends to permit fast installation without field preparation. Fittings conform to the pressure ratings of Style 77 couplings.

Reducers connect pipes of different sizes. They are available in concentric or eccentric. One connecting end of the reducer is larger than the other. Pipe reducers often have male threads on one end and female threads on the other. Reducers come in a wide variety of materials, sizes and types, designed to suit specific applications.
Pipelines are not of uniform size and there is requirement of reducing or expanding the lines depending on process requirement or availability of material. Here comes the importance of a special pipe fitting called Reducers.
Reducers are most extensively used in piping industry to reduce or expand the straight part of run pipe.

Basically, reducers are available in two styles:

Concentric reducers
In this type of reducers area reduction is concentric and center line of the pipe on bigger end and smaller end remains same. The reduction of the pipe size is achieved by decreasing the diameter of the fitting at a constant rate over a specified length, maintaining symmetry around the fitting.These styles are normally used for vertical lines.

Eccentric reducers
In this style of reducer there is an offset in between the center lines of bigger end and center line of smaller end. This offset or eccentricity will maintain a flat side either on top or on bottom side. The reduction of the pipe size is achieved by decreasing the diameter of the fitting at a constant rate over a specified length, maintaining one side of the fitting horizontally.
